Ninilchik River Packraft Tour
(1/2 Day ~ 4hrs)
If you are looking for a more laid back packrafting experience, but still want to experience "Real Alaska" our Ninilchik River packraft trip is for you. This private (2 guest per trip) ~5 mile float lets you take in the wildlife and scenery at a more conservative pace. Paddle through deep pools and see giant King (chinook) salmon on their spawning beds and catch glimpses of moose foraging in the river bottom. Bald Eagles are also a regular visitor to this river. Bring your camera and photograph one up close! Your Ninilchik River packraft trip concludes with a ~1/2 mile hike along the shores of the Cook Inlet (trip can be customized to exclude the hiking portion at your request. Please let us know your preference!) This short hike can include a Cook Inlet ecology tour at your request.
Anchor River Packraft Tour
(Full Day ~ 7 hrs)
The Anchor River drains the lower reaches of mainland Kenai Peninsula. In 1778, Captain James Cook (Cook Inlet is named after him) lost an anchor near here and subsequently named the region "Anchor Point"! Our Anchor River packraft tours follow the course of the south fork of the Anchor River. This trip starts and ends in Anchor Point. Today, the Anchor River boasts the largest King Salmon (Chinook) runs on the Lower Kenai Peninsula. Moose, bears, eagles and river otters also call this river area home. Be sure to pack a lunch for this all day trip with ~14 river miles to packraft!
